Co-op Academy Manchester Celebrates National Poetry Day

Today, our Year 7 students stepped into a world of creativity and big ideas to celebrate National Poetry Day.
Ten classes joined a national live assembly featuring famous author Michael Rosen and the inspiring Hot Poets group. Together with over 1,000 schools across the country, our young people explored this year’s special theme: Wonder.
From watching the live performances to sharing their own thoughts, our students showed fantastic enthusiasm.
The excitement doesn't stop there! Every Year 7 student is now putting pen to paper to write their own original poem. To celebrate their hard work, teachers will pick two standout writers from each class to choose a brand-new book prize from our academy library.
Developing brilliant communication skills and a love for writing helps our students thrive in life, not just in school. We see this passion every day—especially in our First Story group. Last year, these talented young writers took part in a special programme to build their creative writing skills. We are thrilled to give you a sneak peek at their upcoming published anthology, featuring brilliant poems written by our very own students.
We are so proud of how our young people express who they are. Keep an eye out for their published work coming very soon!
