Starting high school is a big step for any child, but our new Year 7 students have settled into life at Co-op Academy Manchester with amazing enthusiasm.
We're so proud to share that last week, Year 7 achieved an incredible 99.1% attendance rate. Turning up every day shows just how ready they are to learn, make friends, and try new things.
Mrs Clifton has been out and about around the academy, chatting with our newest students to find out what they are enjoying most about their high school journey so far.
One student shared how exciting it is to experience different classrooms throughout the day: "I love moving around going to all the different subjects. I thought I would be scared, but it's OK!"
Another student was pleasantly surprised by one lesson in particular: "I love History so far. I thought it would be so boring, but it’s great!"
Of course, break times and making new friends are just as important for helping children feel safe and happy. As one of our new students told us: "Dinner and break time and the cake is so good! Oh, and I have made two new friends in two days."
Moving to secondary school can feel like a huge change, but seeing our Year 7s build confidence, discover new favourite subjects, and form friendships in their very first days is wonderful. We are delighted to welcome them into our academy family and look forward to supporting them every step of the way as they grow and succeed together.
