Welcome back

We look forward to welcoming our students back to the academy this week.
Today, our new Year 7 students have joined us for their second induction day. Here is a reminder of start dates for all year groups:
-
Thursday 3rd September: Year 7 and 11 only
-
Friday 4th September: All year groups in school
The school day and 708 bus update
Don’t forget the school day has changed.
All students are expected to be on site before the gates close at 8.20am. There are different finishing times across the week:
-
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday: School ends at 3.15pm
-
Thursday, Friday: School ends at 2.30pm
-
Year 11 only
-
Monday and Tuesday: School ends at 4pm
-
Our daily timetable and entrances for each year group can be found here.
The academy has a dedicated school bus service, the 708, operated by Travel for Greater Manchester. Their times have changed to reflect the changes to the school day. You can view the new bus timetable here.
Uniform reminder
We wrote to you at the end of the academic year to let you know about the uniform requirements. Key things to note are that all students are now required to wear trousers and that a plain black jumper is now compulsory for Year 7 students (optional for all other year groups).
Please make sure you re-read the uniform information on our website.
Changes to our lunchtime offer
As mentioned previously, we have a new catering provider – Caterlink.
As part of our commitment to ensuring that students are getting the best nutrition, bottled drinks have been removed from all Co-op Academies Trust schools at lunchtime. This ensures that the money for a meal deal goes towards larger portion sizes and better quality food. Students will have access to new ’Hydration Stations’ in all dining areas at lunchtime, where they can get free water. Bottled drinks will not be available to purchase at lunch times. If your child wishes to purchase bottled drinks, these will only be available to buy at break times.
We encourage all students to bring a reusable water bottle to school with them so that they can stay hydrated throughout the day. Water coolers are available in all dining areas and in subject areas.
The new menu is available to view on the academy website.
We want to remind you about our Free Breakfast Club. Every single morning from 7.30am, all students can come into school and get free toast and crumpets. We are currently working to expand this breakfast offer so there is even more choice for our students, and we strongly encourage your child to come along in the morning to grab some free food.
Year 10 and 11 tutor groups
There have been changes to some Year 10 and 11 tutor groups. We have sent a message to parents and carers of students in these year groups.
Yours sincerely
Joanne Clifton, Headteacher
