Year 7 home learning

From Monday 29th June we are changing the way we set homework for Year 7.
Home learning is shown to have a big impact on students’ progress, and helps to prepare them for success once they’ve left school.
Focus on Maths
Students are already expected to complete homework on Sparx Maths. This has shown a positive impact on progress in lessons. From 29th June, students will continue to be set home learning on Sparx Maths. However, it will now be set on a Monday and must be completed within 2 weeks. This means that the first round of home learning should be done before Monday 13th July. Due to the summer break, we will not set home learning on 13th July.
If a student misses the opportunity to practise a specific method at home, they may find themselves struggling to keep up. To ensure no student falls behind, we are introducing a new layer of accountability. Students who do not complete their set home learning by the deadline will be issued a "Habits Detention."
More subjects will follow
From September 2026, we will also be introducing home learning for the other core subjects: English and Science. We will keep you informed when these changes happen.
We appreciate your continued support in ensuring students develop great study habits.
