A special farewell to Richard and Lola

For the past seven years, Friday has been the favourite day of the week for many of our students. That's because it was the day Richard and his therapy dog, Lola, came to visit.

Richard and Lola have been a huge part of our academy family. They spent their time with us supporting students who sometimes find school life a little bit difficult or overwhelming. Whether a student was feeling anxious or struggling with their lessons, Lola was there with a wagging tail and a calm presence.

Lola has a special gift for knowing when a student needs a friend. Many of our young people found it much easier to focus on their reading or stay calm just by having Lola sitting quietly by their side. She provided a safe, non-judgmental space for students to be themselves always.

Richard’s kindness and dedication were just as important. He believes deeply in our community and knows that every child here has the potential to do great things, no matter what challenges they face. As he told us, he believes our students can go on to lead wonderful lives and make a real difference in the world.

While we are sad to see them go, we are so grateful for the years of support they gave us. They showed us how much it matters to show you care, leaving behind a legacy of kindness. Richard and Lola have helped our students to feel safe, happy, and ready to learn, and we wish them every success in their new venture together.
