A Night of Unity: Our First Community Iftar

On Wednesday 11 March 2026, we opened our doors for our very first Community Iftar.
The academy was transformed into a space of reflection, celebration and shared connection; bringing together families, staff and neighbours from across our vibrant local community.
Why we gathered
Our values are rooted in co-operation and inclusion. We recognise that for many of our students and their families, Ramadan is a sacred time of spiritual growth and community. By hosting this Iftar, we wanted to:
-
Celebrate diversity: Honouring the traditions of our Muslim community members.
-
Build bridges: Providing a space where people of all faiths (and none) could learn about the significance of Ramadan.
-
Strengthen ties: Breaking fast together to foster a deeper sense of belonging beyond the classroom.
An evening to remember
The atmosphere was fantastic with a real sense of "Being Co-op". The evening featured generous donations from Islamic Relief, a guest speaker, an Islamic poetry/nasheeds recital and call of prayer to open the fast.
We were thrilled to welcome over 80 guests, filling the hall with conversation and laughter.
The heart of the event was our students. 10 student volunteers took the lead, assisting with everything from greeting guests at the door, to serving the delicious meal with professionalism and pride alongside staff.
Looking Forward
This first Community Iftar wasn't just a meal; it was a testament to the strength of our academy’s spirit. Seeing students, parents, carers and teachers sitting side-by-side was a powerful reminder that we are at our best when we are together.
We would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who attended and to our incredible catering staff and site teams for making the evening possible. We look forward to making this a cherished annual tradition for years to come!
