Year 10 careers week

During the week beginning Monday 9 March, we are holding a number of events for Year 10 students to support their planning for their futures after Year 11.

Students will take part in activities designed to prepare them for their next steps once they've left the academy. Students will:

  • Learn about the post-16 options available to them. This includes speaking to local colleges and training providers at a post-16 fair.

  • Have a mock interview with a local employer. Students will also be supported to prepare for these interviews.

  • Explore different careers and speak with employers at a careers fair.

Students will be given the opportunity to prepare for these activities in order to maximise the opportunities available.

Following the week, students will be offered a one-to-one chat with our Careers Adviser who will advise and guide them on their post-16 options. These informal conversations will begin around Easter time and will continue into Year 11, ensuring every student is given the opportunity. Students can also access a qualified Career Adviser during lunchtime drop-ins.

Information about college open days is available on the careers page of our website – we recommend students attend plenty of open events to find out all about the different offers.  There will be more open days in the autumn term.  We also share these dates with students and suggest keeping an eye on college websites as well.
