Important Update: Catering Price Adjustments and Meal Deal Clarifications

Dear Parents and Carers,
We wrote to you recently to inform you of some price increases made by our catering provider, Taylor Shaw. The new price list can be found on our website at https://www.manchester.coopacademies.co.uk/lunches
System Updates and Consistency
We would like to take this opportunity to clarify some additional changes to the meal deal options which have caused some confusion this week.
Taylor Shaw have provided the following statement:
“We identified an error in the Cunninghams till system where a meal deal discount was being incorrectly applied to certain combinations of food items.
While students will have benefited from this unintended discount, correcting the issue has understandably created some confusion around the current meal deal pricing. This has now been fully resolved, and a dedicated “meal deal” button is in place to ensure that all advertised and eligible meal deal items are charged accurately.”
Student Choice and Advertising
We appreciate that this situation may be frustrating for students as they adjust to these changes. To assist them, the specific details of what is included in a “meal deal” are clearly advertised on the digital screens, the school website, and on signage in the diners around the Academy.
Main Meal Deal £2.60
Includes 3 items: Hot dish of the day, cookie and a bottle of water or 125ml Radnor Fruits.
Sandwich Meal Deal £2.41
Includes 3 items: Simple sandwich, cookie and 125ml Radnor Fruits
Pizza Lunch £2.45
Includes 3 items: Slice of pizza, cookie and 125ml Radnor Fruits
Please be assured that students are still free to choose any items they prefer. However, it is important to note that:
-
Eligible Items: Only items specified in the advertised meal deal qualify for the discounted rate.
-
Individual Items: Items such as hot wraps, pasta pots, jacket potato, or baguettes will be charged at their individual advertised price
Free School Meals
The daily allowance for students eligible for Free School Meals continues to cover the cost of the standard meal deal, ensuring no student is disadvantaged by the price increase or changes to the meal deal.
School meals are a good way to ensure that your child eats well at lunchtime, and they can also save you time and money. If you have a child who is not currently receiving Free School Meals who you think may be eligible please use the following link to make an online claim: pps.lgfl.org.uk/
Claiming free school meals also helps the school. We get extra funding, known as the ‘pupil premium’, for every eligible pupil who is registered.
Additionally, we wish to remind you that we offer free breakfast every morning. Breakfast club runs from 7.45am each day and is open to everyone.
We thank you for your patience as Taylor Shaw worked to rectify the technical errors in the till system and apologise on their behalf for any confusion caused with the meal deals. We wish to reassure you that we are having robust conversations with both Taylor Shaw and Cunninghams to ensure that issues like this do not happen again.
If you have any questions regarding these changes or require support with Free School Meals, please contact Reception on manc-enquiries@coopacademies.co.uk
