Careers Week (starting 10th June)

Next week we are holding a special ‘Life After Year 11’ programme for students currently in Year 10

Students will have the opportunity to complete a wide range of activities designed to prepare them for life after their time at the Academy is over.

Students will have sessions on:

  • Exploring post-16 options. This includes speaking to local colleges and training providers at a Post-16 careers fair
  • Starting their personal statement and writing a CV
  • Having a mock interview with a local employer. Students will also be supported to prepare for these interviews.
  • Sessions using our new Unifrog online careers platform
  • Practising writing an application form
  • Exploring different careers and speaking to employers at a careers fair
  • Reflecting on their skills, qualities, competencies and strengths
  • Setting themselves targets and next steps for moving forward

For the mock interviews on Tuesday 11th June, students can choose to attend that day in either their school uniform or in their own formal clothes. Please note that any non-uniform clothing MUST be suitable and appropriate for a formal interview.

On Thursday 13th June, we would also like to invite parents and carers to come and speak to colleges and training providers after school on this day. Parents are welcome at the Careers Fair between 2.45pm and 4.30pm.

Please contact any of the Careers team at the Academy if you have any questions or wish to discuss this further.
