A letter from the Principal

Dear parents and carers,

It is with mixed emotions that I am writing to inform you of my decision to step down as Principal of Co-op Academy Manchester at the end of the current academic year.

This has not been an easy decision as I have valued my time at the academy immensely.

Over the past two years, it has been the greatest privilege of my professional life to serve as the Principal of this GREAT school, in a GREAT community. I have been incredibly proud to lead such a dedicated staff, witness the growth and achievements of our wonderful students, and work alongside such a supportive parent community. Together, we have overcome challenges and celebrated many successes. Events such as the Prom this year, where we invited students and their parents/carers, and Sports Day, for every member of the school community, are the reasons I wanted to do this job. They are celebrations of togetherness, and they unite us all.

When I first came to the academy, it was clear that there was a significant change required to rebuild your trust and improve the educational offer for our students. Together we’ve delivered a comprehensive change programme that has reshaped how we work and how we serve our students, that is encapsulated in our GREAT ethos.

We restructured senior leadership to bring clarity, accountability, and a renewed focus on outcomes. Our curriculum intent has been revamped to better reflect both rigor and relevance. We’ve overhauled our assessment systems, making them more transparent and purposeful, and we built a teaching framework that supports excellence in the classroom when embedded with rigor and consistency.

I leave behind a senior leadership team that I am proud of, one that will truly serve you and the academy with integrity and is set up to drive the school forward.

Our most recent Progress 8 score is something we can all be proud of as a community, moving from -0.27 to -0.02 in line with national expectations. I expect these figures to improve even further over the coming years.

I am immensely grateful for the opportunity I've had to serve as Principal of Co-op Academy Manchester. I will forever value the relationships I've built and the memories we've created. I have full confidence in the continued success of Co-op Academy Manchester and will continue to be a proud supporter of the school and its students.

I wish you all the very best, and I will always look back fondly on my time at the Academy. Thank you for your support and trust.

Yours sincerely,

Allan Glover
Principal
