Options Evening
There will be subject specialists from all departments available to answer questions around:
-
Course content
-
Exam requirements
-
Possible further education / career destinations
During the evening, we will be asking your child to log into their academy account and enter a PIN that will be given to parents/carers – this means it will only be possible for you to complete the options process together. If students arrive without a parent/carer, they will not be able to make their choice on the evening.
Attendance at this event by parents/carers and their child is essential to help you understand the options process and make informed choices. Furthermore, you will have access to personalised advice on which subjects your child is most likely to succeed in.
Support
The decisions that you and your child make regarding these options may affect their future career pathway. Therefore, it is vital that both you and your child are fully informed about the learning pathways on offer at the academy.
In order to help with this, we have our Academy Options Online page, which gives details about the choices your child can make and the different subjects available to them. Use this link to access this resource.
Students will also be given copies of the Options booklet in tutor time. This outlines each of the subjects offered and explains to your child the choice they have to make.
Once students begin their studies in Year 10, we cannot change options for any students as all courses run for a full two years. As such, you and your child must be confident in the options chosen before the start of Year 10.
If you have any enquiries about this process, please get in touch using the details below.
Yours sincerely,
Miss O'Connor
