Year 11 mock exams

We are writing to inform you of key dates and resources as our Year 11 students begin the important final stage of their secondary school journey.

The first set of Year 11 mock exams is scheduled to begin shortly. These mocks are a vital part of the preparation process, providing both students and staff with an accurate measure of current progress and highlighting areas for focused revision before the final summer exams.

Key exam information

The mock exams will run from Thursday 16 October to Friday 21 November 2025.

The mock exam timetable is available on the exams page of our website. Students have been given a more detailed paper version of this during tutor time. A few students will have a ‘clash’ – this is where two of their subjects have an exam at the same time. These students will be given a personalised timetable so they know which exam they will sit on each day.

Arriving on time

Students must be in their tutor rooms by 8.30am. This is even more important during the mock exam period so that exams can start promptly. In order to ensure students do not miss any exams, we will check registers at 8.35am, and we will make calls home for any absent students. It is essential that students are on time so that they maximise the time they have, but also so that they don’t disrupt the exam for other students by walking in late.

Morning revision area & free breakfast

During the mock exam period, students will be able to enter the academy through main reception from 7.30am onwards. We offer a free breakfast all year round, but during the exam period we want Year 11 to have a space reserved for them only. As such, Diner 3 will be available for Year 11 only to complete independent revision from 7.30am onwards. Free toast, crumpets and juice will be available.

Year 11 Booster Programme

To support all students in preparing for these exams, we have established a focused Booster Programme. These sessions are designed to consolidate knowledge, address common misconceptions, and provide targeted exam practice in key subjects.

The full booster timetable is available on our website

Mobile phones/smartwatches/earphones/AirPods

A crucial reminder: mobile phones, smartwatches, earphones, and AirPods are not allowed in the exam hall under any circumstances. If a student is found with a prohibited device, it will be treated as a serious offence, likely resulting in disqualification from the paper. During the real exams, all such incidents must be reported to the exam board for further investigation. All such devices must be placed in student bags and left outside the exam hall.

Parent/Carer information webinar with Mr Moosa

We recognise that supporting a Year 11 student through their exams can be challenging for parents and carers. To help you best support your child, we are hosting a live informational webinar.

Mr Moosa, Assistant Vice Principal with responsibility for Year 11, will be explaining the importance of the mock exams and sharing practical, effective strategies that students can use for preparation, as well as outlining how parents can help at home.

We strongly encourage you to attend this session.

Next steps

We believe that a strong partnership between home and school is the most effective way to ensure student success. Please take the following actions:

  1. Review the mock examination timetable with your child.

  2. Review the booster timetable and ensure your child attends their scheduled sessions.

  3. Plan to attend the parent/carer information webinar.

Should you have any immediate questions regarding the mock exams, please email manc-y11@coopacademies.co.uk

Thank you for your continued support as we work together to help our students achieve their potential.

Yours sincerely,

Naeem Moosa

Assistant Vice Principal
