Uniform update – staying cool in the warm weather

With the hot weather forecast, we want to make sure our students are comfortable and ready to learn.

From tomorrow, students do not need to wear their blazers or bring them into school for the rest of this week. All other uniform standards remain the same.

We highly recommend that students bring a reusable water bottle to school so they can stay hydrated.

Behaviour policy change

To ensure we continue to maintain our high standards and expectations across the academy, from today there will be an update to our behaviour policy.

If a student is removed from their period 5 lesson, they will spend the remainder of that lesson and the whole of the next day in the Reflection Room.

If a student is absent on the day of their scheduled sanction, they will complete the remaining time in the Reflection Room upon their return.

Year 7 home learning

From Monday 29th June we are changing the way we set homework for Year 7.

Read more here.

Year 10 home learning

The next round of home learning for Year 10, which was set on Monday 15th June, is due to be completed before Monday 29th June.

The home learning timetable for the rest of this school year can be found here.

Applying for Free School Meals (FSM)

From 1st September 2026, all children attending school from households in receipt of Universal Credit will be entitled to receive a free school meal.

All parents who have an existing FSM account will have to re-apply before 31st July 2026. Not reapplying will mean that students don't get their entitled free food in September.

Further information

You must apply on this site only: https://pps.lgfl.org.uk/

Please do not apply to any other site as proof will not be accepted. PLEASE NOTE: You will be asked to re-apply yearly to keep your child on FSM.

Alternatively, if you would like us to apply annually on your behalf, please complete this form. Please ensure that you enter the details of the same person who has claimed Universal Credit.

Our Year 9 students recently had an incredible day stepping into the world of medicine with the Mini Medics workshop. Working alongside a qualified doctor and a trainee doctor, 150 of our brilliant students used real medical equipment. They tested lung volumes, used an ultrasound to measure blood vessels, and even recorded an ECG!It was an amazing opportunity to learn new skills and think about future careers. We're so proud of how hard they worked together.
