End of Term Rewards Events

We are delighted to launch the criteria for our Co-op Heroes Rewards Trip on Friday 27th March. Students have voted for either Alton Towers or Blackpool.

Our rewards programme celebrates excellent behaviour, attitude and attendance in lessons. To go on this trip, students must continue to meet the criteria below up to and including the day before the trip.

  • An excellent behaviour record

  • Not been placed in the Reflection Room

  • Not received a suspension from the academy

  • An excellent attendance record

  • Excellent punctuality

  • 100% Sparx Reader & Maths

  • Excellent Habits

Students will be updated regularly on whether they are still meeting the criteria. Those who do not will spend the day in the academy as normal.

This trip is partially funded by the academy, meaning a payment of £25 is required by Monday 23rd March.

PLEASE NOTE: this trip will go live on Arbor in the next few days.

To register and pay for the trip, look for the trips button on the Arbor app or find trips within the Activities section of the Arbor Parent Portal.

A general step-by-step guide from Arbor is available here.

If you haven’t started using Arbor yet to send and receive communications, monitor your child’s behaviour logs and make lunch payments, you can find information on getting started at manchester.coopacademies.co.uk/parent-apps

Update on Standards

Since September, we have established our norms around our behaviour expectations as an academy. This includes student uniform; one of our GREAT habits is for students to wear the correct academy uniform and wear it with pride.

This half-term we are continuing to build on these high standards and expectations by focusing on the following areas:

  • No false eyelashes

  • No fake nails (this includes no nail varnish)

  • Hair colour must be of a 'natural' colour with no extreme haircuts/styles.

If these standards are not adhered to, students will be placed in the Reflection Room.

This message was communicated to students prior to the half-term break, and again during our re-induction assemblies which have been taking place this week.

We are giving all students an extra day's grace to ensure that they have a chance to rectify any issues in relation to these standards.

We thank you for your support in helping us to maintain high standards at the academy.

Did you know that we run a School Pantry and Community Fridge, providing free and accessible food for the local community?

It’s open every Wednesday and Thursday between 11.30am and 12.30pm, and Fridays between 3.30pm and 4pm during term time. Local families can drop in at any time during these hours.

It is housed in a green, standalone cabin on the academy site – accessed through gate 1 (near the bike shelter).

There is no need to register. Visitors should come no more than once a week and should only take what they need and will use. In the spirit of fairness, we may ask each family to take a limited amount of products so that more people can benefit – this varies depending on the stock we have available.

Personal hygiene items, including sanitary products, are also sometimes available.

Please note that we would prefer that our visitors are adults. This is because:

  • We are asking for a responsible member of a family to take food on behalf of that family.

  • We are asking for a responsible member of a family to ensure food taken will not be wasted.

  • We want to ensure that the cabin is a calm and orderly space for our visitors.

  • The cabin is run by volunteers and often after their working hours, so they are not expected to manage pupil behaviour.

Therefore, we will not usually allow unsupervised children access to the cabin. In exceptional circumstances, we know that some conscientious young people can be trusted to follow the ethos set out above and that their families may rely on them to collect food on behalf of the family.

If you would like your child to access the cabin in such exceptional circumstances, please complete the form below:

Ramadan additional prayer provision

Our Muslim students and colleagues will be observing the holy month of Ramadan during this month onwards.

Whilst we already have a prayer space, we have opened a larger area for students during the period of Ramadan.

From Thursday 26th February and throughout Ramadan, the prayer room next to EAL will no longer be accessible.

Instead, Drama 1 will be available for male students and staff and Drama 2 will be available for female students and staff.

This will be during the first 15 minutes of lunchtime every day.

Additionally, any students eligible for Free School Meals who are fasting during Ramadan, can obtain their food in a grab bag at the end of the academy day. More information about this will be provided to students during tutor time.

Ramadan Mubarak (Ramadan Blessings) to all our Muslim families.
